Also, the date on this one is earlier than the 825v, which explains at least partially why it's got the crappier gps drivers.

So they've had the update but failed to tell anyone. Way to go LG support.  Grin

One big difference with the new ROM is that it has Microsoft MMS.

Hmm, I could be mis-understanding this, do you mean as in MMS messaging?

If so, does it work like its supposed to and not lag phone to death?

My thoughts exactly. If an LG update falls in the woods when no one is around, does it make a sound?

One big difference with the new ROM is that it has Microsoft MMS.

Another difference is that they included a OZ IM plugin for the wm6.5 titanium interface. It would have been ok had it simply been text, but they decided to include it as an icon, which destroys the uniform look of the titanium menu.  You can remove it by deleting the reference to the OZ IM plugin at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\ExtensibilityXML.

Also, while I've noticed greater signal strength (aka more bars), it seems that opera mobile 10 has more trouble loading webpages.  I've gotten a number of "unable to load pages" on random sites and even more instances where opera loads only the text and placeholders for the pics (no background, no formatting), or where it cannot finish loading the webpage.  I've only experienced this maybe 2-3% of the time with the old ROM or with one of Dark's custom ROMs, but now these problems occur maybe 60% of the time.

Ya opera doesnt work as well. My biggest compliant is that the lock 'emergancy call' button is now 'emergency call or pin' I dont want people to know that you can unlock the phone with a pin.

Sadness = Having to choose between Opera Mobile working properly, or MMS finally working between me and my fiancee's Pantech and more signal bars  Cry

EDIT: @Phatride - was your issue with using Opera Mobile 10 too, or Opera Mini 5?

I'll be dumping the rom soon and should have a custom rom for this soon.

Have you had a chance to look at this yet?

I dumped it yesterday (but haven't really gone through anything) and noticed that like the 825v the Flash.bin is multiple segments that dzdecrypt merges. I don't know what that means for cooking with it ...  Undecided

Also, the date on this one is earlier than the 825v, which explains at least partially why it's got the crappier gps drivers.

Yeah, I have had a chance to play with this. In fact I have a custom rom loaded on my phone right now. I'm uploading it as I write this. Should be up soon.

So this is only a few updates and bug fixes and not WM6.5.3?

VS the stock eXpo ROM:

Files/Packages updated:
Bluetooth
MP4 decoder
video calling
camera core service
radio driver
projector driver
backlight driver
LG Idles today plugin
alarmwakeup
block breaker deluxe 2
calendar animation
contacts animation
gallery animation
interface composer (still used for MMS, but heavily changed)
lg alarm
lg camera
lg dialer
lg mms transport driver
LG Menu
LG Settings
monopoly
multitasking animation
MyMusic
new contact animation
Power CPL
RotateManager
RSS viewer
Weather
XT9
LG Ringtone

Registry Changes:
slight change to video calling
Bluetooth
ims.cingular blacklisted as a connection option
MMS reports
9 notifications added
OZ IM added to CHome
IE User Agent updated
Version updated to V10g
New Message sound changed to echo.mp3

-----

Most of the changes will probably not be noticeable.  LG MMS was heavily changed to look more like ArcSoft MMS.

Note that important drivers like GPS and D3D have not changed.  Sad

It took much longer than usual to flash to my GW825.  I also had to use the GW820WR.dll that came with this ROM instead of GW825WR.dll that I would normally use for all GW825 and GW820 ROMs.

Interesting.

@Dark: Maybe that's a solution for hared and his 825v?
