I heard mention of a WM 6.5.3
Is this an official Windows version, or from a cooked ROM?
Any chance of the upgrade for the Expo?

It's an official Windows Version, from wikipedia below:

Windows Mobile 6.5.3 brings a more finger-friendly user interface with several new ease of use features such as support for multitouch, complete touch control i.e. no need for a stylus, and drag and drop start menu icons. Touchable tiles now replace soft keys. Internet Explorer Mobile 6 has also received some major updates including decreased page load time, improved memory management and gesture smoothing.

There is a thread already about getting a new rom here:

Looks like this is a close to WP 7 as we'll ever get. Hope it's available for Expo users.

I hope LG doesn't scrub it because they believe their Idles to be enough to satisfy the users of this phone, or because they can't make it(Idles) play well with 6.5.3 and its widened menus an moved start button etc..

I can see the latter happening sadly, I surely hope I'm wrong however.

If its because they can't integrate their crappy Idles into it, I personally will never buy LG again.

Personally, I am hoping for a small rom Update/Upgrade, if not to 6.5.3 to whatever so Dark can begin his mastery and give us the 6.5.3 we all desire and make this thing worthy.

I said Update first as Idles is absolute carp imo and takes away from the phones potential in memory capacity and leads to customer confusion when trying to set up their normal windows phone properties.(samsung is very similiar with their Touchwiz, hiding WM options an settings, and that IMO is a big turn off of what Windows is an always has been, open)
So the update I hope or believe will be released will be to deal with their inability to make Idles be capable of being turned off completly.

I didn't buy this phone for Idles, not a chance, So LG wise up, its not all about your GUI, its about Windows!

Piece/rant over.

Thanks

My new LG Expo is scheduled to arrive today.  Any word regarding an update to Windows Mobile 6.5.3 yet?  Maybe its shipping with new phones?  I'll reply back to this post once I get my phone and see what version is installed on it.

Hi stevestoj

It is unlikely that 6.5.3 will be on it yet from the factory, though I have seen a couple other phones recently being released that had 6.5.2 interesting enough.

Though, We are waiting on a kitchen for custom ROM cooking for ours, and you can bet your hat, "Dark" will get us 6.5.3 then and it will be clean of the extra bloatware that LG likes to add.

Then we'll be smiling large Wink

Btw Grats on the New phone stevestoj
