Hey peeps.

If 3G doesn't seem too important or you feel like nailing a specific band, do this:

Dial : 3845#*820#
Modem setting> Band Setting> Select which you want

Personally, I have noticed a slight increase in battery life since switching to GSM only.

Kick ass. AT&T is having a 3g only outage right now so this helps a lot. Thanks

I guess I spoke too soon. I set it to GSM only and when I restarted my phone it was on edge at first and I could make a call, but it still switched back to 3G

There is no need to restart your phone after bandswitching. Just give it a few seconds when you select GSM only to switch over. Other wise you will definitely keep running into that issue of it auto switching back to 3G.

3845#*820# didn't work with Telus

I was addressing the LG Expo as this is the Expo forum.

820 is the Expo. Try replacing the 820 with 825 (LG IQ) in the "3845#820#"

In hindsight, I found you can set which Generation of network you want to run on through the phone settings itself.

Just open the dialer, goto settings, then Network, select manual, I can choose from My native carrier Telus 3G, and or Rogers GSM or 3G networks, of which are in siganl range of my home.

I do set mine like this, so that i do not get false signal readings from Rogers towers at all, its either Telus nuts to the wall 3G, or nothing.

Now this is of course for Telus, It should be identical on the Expo.

Should be lol

Mine's locked to Telus, though it doesn't mean I can't switch bands.

Too bad for Expo's i Guess.
