Memory card problem

I am trying to install a new Kinston 4GB micro SDHC class 4 card.  The card shows up on my desktop pc through the usb reader, but can not find it on the phone or through active sync, no storage folder.  It is formatted fat32.  I have 2 of these new cards and 2 new lg incites. Have swapped everything around to try a different phone to a different card and still nothing.  When I look into the storage card tab in my system memory on my phone it says "not installed".  And after a few minutes the phone freezes up.  If I remove the card and reboot every thing is fine.  One of my phones has some upgrades and 3rd party software, but the other is still factory fresh. Does any one have a clue?  Any help is greatly appreciated.
