Ok...This shouldn't really be as hard to find as it has been. I used the QuickMark QR barcode reader on my Tilt for as long as I was using it. I went to the eXpo and it doesn't work. They have versions specific for certain models, but the eXpo is not in their list. I tried to install some of the ones they have for HTC devices, but since the eXpo has winmo 6.5 none of the ones made for 6.1 devices work. They'll install, but they won't open. I've gotten some of the winmo 6.5 phone versions to install and run, but they don't work right. The closest has been the version for the HD2, but since it's made for a phone with more RAM it is slow as hell on the eXpo and I can't even get it to scan a barcode.

I tried mobiletag from the freewarepocketpc.net site, but that doesn't work. I've tried barcorama from the same site (used it on my tilt too) and it errors out. I would REALLY like to have a QR reader since it's extremely useful. Especially since I have the QR barcode generator extension for firefox.

I'm really getting tired of finding programs that work for damn near any other phone but this one....

Amazonit 1.0 works.  I tried it this evening on several items.  Not perfect but it works.

I know this is a little late to the original post, but have you found a solid QR Code reader yet?

Isn't Amazonit just for looking up pricing on Amazon via a QR Code?  I saw it for download on Omarket, but haven't installed yet, as it's not highly rated?

I need more of a universal reader to download software directly to my device via the QR Code.

I haven't found one yet. QuickMark replied to an email I sent to them and said that it's not very likely they will ever have a version specific for the eXpo. Here is the email I got from them:
Quote
Thank you very much for your email and continued interest in QuickMark.

The hTC versions of QuickMark are unlikely to work on the LG eXpo as we use hTC's proprietary camera SDK for a majority of their devices to access the camera.

As you already know, the DS-ADV version is the most generic one we have that uses the Microsoft's media framework for accessing the camera. (Asus P320 uses the DS-ADV version)

It has the highest chance of opening the camera for untested WinMo devices. If the screen orientation is rotated, it can be adjusted with the DS-ADV version via Preview Settings.

However, it is still possible for device manufacturers to implement or customize MS's framework differently per device, even amongst products of the same brand and same OS platform. Such technical information is also hard to obtain as they are usually not released publicly.

Therefore, there are at least 2 requirements for us to optimize a version for a particular phone model: 1) sample device 2) camera SDK. Unfortunately, we have neither at this time for the LG eXpo.

Since we have updated DS-ADV in the past few weeks (should give a larger viewfinder than the one you previously tried), you may give it a shot if you have not already done so.

We regret to say that we cannot guarantee whether we will ever fully support the LG eXpo, but it is something we will look into should the required resources become available.
If you have any further questions or comments please let us know.

Best regards,
QuickMark Team

The one part that I find to be total bullshit is "there are at least 2 requirements for us to optimize a version for a particular phone model: 1) sample device 2) camera SDK". They have a f****** version for the Dell Streak for f**** sake! They have versions for phones that have JUST come out (Droid X for example) and yet they have absolutely nothing for the expo which has been out since December of last year. At least that's when I got mine.

I requested a copy of the latest version of their generic version called "DS-ADV". Once I get it, I'll try it and post results.

Mod edit: Please refrain from using profanity in your posts.

i tried the one they had listed for another lg phone... and it works, kinda...

it's TINY, the bg takes up a quarter of the screen and the live window takes up 1/8th of the screen.

Has anyone found one that works properly yet?

I browsed through the ones listed here, and none show compatibility with the eXpo.

I've been using BeeTagg on my IQ and I haven't had any problems with it at all. I couldn't tell you where I found the cab now, though. I just google QR readers for Windows Mobile 6.5 and it was the one that looked the best.

I tried BeeTagg on my expo (with 23139 rom) and it works too! the only annoyance is in realtime mode when you move the phone sideways the image moves vertically, other than that it does a good job of identifying QR codes.
