*Warning* You will lose use of the Camera and LG Menu and other LG Add on with the HD2 Tweak!
It can be un-installed an everything works again.

Guys, I was goofing around earlier watching Snapdragons up against a Omap in a OpenGL benchmark. Things couldn't have been any worse for the Dragon, it was pummeled. These tests were done on Droids, but were kinda eye opening to the difference in gpu's an drivers.

The pasting

I tried the very same tests with OpenGl Benchmark on my phone, stock speed, semi over clocked an pinned and could not touch that Omap. In fact, no where near the Droids Dragons either, wtf??
A bell went off in my head about Chainfires work on the HD2 and mentioned here before, though I had forgotten about it after the new Roms. So I tried Chainfires new HD2 patch out and retested, I smoked the Omap by a good margin this time hehe.

Over all, it feels snappier, it may be placebo, but it just seems, better.

Want to try it out??

Chainfires Awesome patchs at XDA
Donations for his work can made there on first page for those that can make one to this deserving soul.

A benchmark to test prior an after...(Make sure you run the two tests at least once before patching with driver to see how bad it is.)
GLBenchmark download

Note:You have to register at GLBenchmark to get an see your results online, though after you reg and run test, you need to upload your results, enter your user name an password an hit send hidden under keypad by shrinking it down, then, it will upload results and if you click outside of the results uploaded box, when it finish's. You can see the remarks at top an scores. Hope that is clear enough  Cheesy

Run these two tests an come back report in on your results.(Un-select all the other tests for this please)

1.GLBenchmark PRO ES 1.1
2.GLBenchmark HD ES 1.1

Mine before Chainfires patch @998Mhz
1. 3.9fps
2. 9.5fps

And after applying the HD2 Patch @ 998Mhz
1. 10.3fps
2. 51.2fps

Sweet.

Now to re-overclock an test an set a record possibly Wink

Question for you WR, did you install both of his patches or just the first one?

I was able to get 50.9 on the one test but never higher than 3.5 on the other.

the difference was amazing on the one test.  absolutely stuning.

I also in CorePlayer benchmarked an episone of TopGear and it was able to play it at 366% speed at over 90fps.   This was such a huge differnce I can hardly believe it.

Thanks for the find.

For the very first test,(Where I hit 10fps on the Pro) I only installed the HD2 patch.
Then I installed the TG01 D3DM one thinking it may help, after I never seen higher then 4 or 5fps, I even un-installed it and same result.

O/c'n it made next to no difference either, strange I thought and fell asleep, I should have posted that part and maybe saved someone losing them frames, Or, I got lucky on the one test, Idk. I probably am going to Hard reset an try this all over again...

Hoping others see the same thing one way or another though....

Other wise, the thing is smoother imo, I really like this.

I may play with the speed setings and the ms (milli second) setting Chainfire talked about to see if I can get any better results on the one test.

The difference though I feel is truely amazing.  The difference it made for me running CorePlayer was astounding.  I'm going to have to see what else I can find to really test it out now.

I'll let you know if I get any better results on the Pro test with altering Chainfires defualt settings.

I believe last test I was using the 17ms setting like Chainfire himself and it was like butter.

Though I am interested to hear your results too...

*WARNING*

This seems to kill native LG apps such as camera, LG Multitasking, and the LG Menu. I would not advise installing this patch yet.

Update: I saw the exact same issue when trying to shoehorn HTC Sense onto the Expo, wherein the LG Apps would launch with no graphical elements and then quit shortly thereafter. If a fix can be found for this problem, it would seem that both the graphics patch and Sense can be installed without problems.

Thanks thekingevrock for the heads up,

Unfortunately I can confirm it does affect the camera (try's to power up the app but then will close it), everything else of LG's I no longer use so can't confirm... hmmm... do I really need my camera?....lol

Well even if you had installed it, luckily an uninstall restores full functionality to the device. I've actually sent a note to Chainfire himself requesting his insight on this issue, so perhaps we'll find a solution with his help.

Was planning on trying this out today but had to spend my day off at work to meet with a vendor who never showed up. Glad to see the feedback as I use my camera and LG task manager all the time.

That's good to hear that it's only a simple uninstall to fix it, I thought it would have to more like a hard reset..

Only thing of LG I use, Is the Camera, Almost considering giving it up lol.

I noticed maybe a placebo, that the camera seems brighter after this, better low light shooting, Maybe just me.

I played with the Libegl.dll,  installed the HD2 patch, replaced the .dll and still same result it seems.

The Tg01 D3DM patch has no issues with anything I found, though I don't use any of the stock crap other then camera and its not effected by that one, just the HD2 one, the one I want lol.

Does that patch increase benchmark scores at all on our phones? Or is it just the HD2 patch that works?

Well the camera really is not a big issue for me. I keep all installed CAB files on my storage card.  Seeing the difference in how CorePlayer and other video works, If I need to us the camera, I'll just uninstall the app.

WR  if Chainfire can solve the camera issue  this will be one of my favorite tweaks.
