I just bought my LG IQ and right away tried using YouTube which of course opened Media Player every time I tried to stream a video. I ended up installing Opera but then spoke with a TELUS tech and he told me to use Skyfire instead. I got Skyfire and loved it, however I have to keep ignporing the youtube message to watch the video. The problem then came up that I couldnt watch videos on Skyfire maximized to my screen. So I decided to try the new YouTube App from:

m.youtube.com/app

This App has worked great but it is supposed to read your phones stats and automatically upload videos to the maximum resolution your phone can handle. In my case it does not and there is no option to up the resolution on videos Im wanting to stream. So I found a thread that linked me to a  youtube site that asked a series of 7 questions to detect my phones stats which also did nothing.

I know this phone is capable of high resolution videos beyond 480p, so why can my brother watch these videos in higher quality on his HTC Hero with half the resolution of my IQ? This is so frustrating, I simply want to watch youtube videos with the ease of maximizing them, rewinding, fastforwarding, and changing resolutions.

Not sure. I use coreplayer to play youtube vids and they look fine to me. There are a few options than can change the video quality in this program. I know with skyfire it loads the pages as if you were viewing from your computer. On the you tube vids that load in the browser there is an option on the vid windows that allows you to increase the res. I know any videos that you have stored on your phone will need the resolution to be converted for higher resolutions when using Windows Media Player. I know there are other 3rd party apps that may be able to solve your problem. Just do a google search for mobile media player.

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll try coreplayer. I'm not sure about media player because it never works for me. Media player comes up, it buffers at 0% for a minute and then says stopped. No matter how many times I refresh or hit play it does the same thing. Which is why I was led to all these different apps. Maybe coreplayer will solve my issues... I'll have to at least try.

Would you happen to know how to remove downloaded apps?

Just to follow up with a bit more info there isnt an option to allow you to change the res that i have seen correct me if anyone finds it.

But as for the quality inside opera it is pretty good and it will play in landscape by double tapping inside the video. The videos run smoth and there isnt any lag or choppiness it is the best option imo. You dont need a third party app and the quality is just as good if not better than any app ive seen. so until there is a app that supports hd this is the way i would go.

Just wanted to chime in here: HTC's latest YouTube app delivers the highest quality I've found, bar none. Of course, it requires so many dependencies that it really needs to be cooked into a ROM Tongue
As a heads up, since the eXpo has 480 pixels of vertical resolution in landscape orientation, anything encoded at higher than 480p will be extraneous -- you'll likely be sucking down more bandwidth without seeing any improvement in sharpness.

hello
Can someone tell me, but with what you can watch youtube at all.
Google can not youtube.cab from 2.4.4 to any that can be found on the Internet. It's not even a HTC youtube.cab that works?
Core player v1.3.6 just can not?
Last expo ROM 820 V10g.
